Signposts and waymarking

We have a duty to signpost all Public Rights of Way where they leave a tarmac road. Furthermore it has powers to place waymarkers along the route of path to assist the public.

We carry out a yearly signing programme putting up as many as 500 signs at a time but we want to do better.

If you know of a local path which is not signed please let us know and we will do our best to put a sign in as quickly as possible.

What do I do if I see someone removing a signpost?
If you witness this happening please contact us as soon as possible - Call Derbyshire on 08 456 058 058.

I have noticed quite a few signs indicating the name and distance to the next village. Can you erect one in our village please?
Yes. Just let us know the details and we will do our best to provide a sign but it will have to be a metal one.

Why do you erect wooden signs in some places and metal in others?
We tend to erect metal signs in urban/built up areas and wooden signs in the remoter locations.

We believe that in each case they are more in keeping with the local environment. All our timber comes certified from renewable sources.

I have a serious problem with people not using the correct line of the path across my land, can you help please?
Yes. If the situation is causing you concern we will endeavour to erect signs and/or waymarks as soon as possible.
