Signposts and waymarking on rights of way

We have a duty to signpost all Public Rights of Way where they leave a tarmac road and powers to place waymarkers along the route of path to assist the public.

We carry out a yearly signing programme putting up as many as 500 signs at a time but we want to do better.

If you know of a local path which is not signed please let us know and we'll do our best to put a sign in as quickly as possible.

Report a problem on a right of way

If you see someone removing a signpost

If you witness this happening please contact us as soon as possible - Call Derbyshire tel: 01629 533190.

Signs to the next village

You can ask for a sign in your village which indicates the name and distance to the next village. Just let us know the details and we'll do our best to provide a sign. It will have to be a metal one.

Wooden or metal signs

We tend to erect metal signs in urban or built up areas and wooden signs in the remoter locations.

We believe that in each case they are more in keeping with the local environment. All our timber comes certified from renewable sources.

People not using the correct line of the path across land

If people are not using the correct line of the path across your land, we can help. If the situation is causing you concern we'll try to erect signs or waymarks as soon as possible.
