Roads and traffic

We're responsible for the safe passage of traffic and maintenance of the roads of Derbyshire except for roads in Derby, trunk roads, and motorways.


Road improvements

Over the next year, 2025-2026, we'll be carrying out major improvements to the county's roads and pavements as part of our £37 million capital investment programme.

Report a fault, defect or to request a service

Our online reporting system is the gateway to our highways service, helping us to help you.

You can report a fault or a defect like a broken streetlight, a missing drain grate or a pothole. When you do this, you'll receive a unique reference number from us, to check on progress and to make any follow-up enquiries.

Report a road condition issue

You can also request a service or an alteration to an existing service. Examples include new pavement, a streetlight, road signs, junction improvements, weight restrictions.

The website lists all roadworks in the county, including utility companies, county council and national highways repairs.
