Feedback
We're asking for feedback from local residents about how we carry out micro asphalt repairs.
If your street is listed on this page, please look out for a letter which will include details about the micro asphalt process and a weblink or a QR code to our online survey.
The survey is open to residents who have had micro asphalt repairs carried out on their road.
We'll use the comments to look at ways to improve the way we do things.
The link to the survey will be published here when work gets underway on site.
About micro asphalting
The full list of major road improvements for the county to be carried out during 2025/2026 are included in the highways capital programme.
Micro asphalt can extend the life of the road surface by up to 10 years and improve skid resistance.
Micro asphalt seals the road surface and prevents water causing any further damage, especially in freezing conditions. It can be laid in as little as 20 minutes, helping to minimise inconvenience for local residents and road users.
Micro asphalt is applied cold, making it ideal to lay in cooler weather conditions as low as 5°C. The weather needs to be dry, which can lead to last minute changes to the programme as we may have to postpone some repairs if it's raining.
The material is laid over the existing road surface and includes stones of varying sizes and cement, mixed into liquid bitumen. The process is able to fill minor potholes to create a smooth new road surface.
We'll drop leaflets door-to-door in areas where we'll carry out the repairs, and erect warning signs in advance, to make sure people are aware of when the works will take place.
To help us complete the micro asphalt with minimum inconvenience and on time, please remember to:
- park your car on a neighbouring street to avoid us having to cancel the repairs
- try to avoid any sudden braking or steering manoeuvres on the new surface until it has fully dried
- take care at junctions until we've replaced the give way and centre line road markings
