A to Z guide on waste - W

Some ideas to help you decide what to do with your unwanted items.

Wardrobes

See furniture under A to Z guide on waste - F.

Washing machines

You can take your old and unwanted washing machines to our household waste recycling centres.

Window frames and doors

Regular maintenance and repair will ensure that your windows and doors have a longer life.

If they're still in good condition, offer them on your local Freecycle or Freegle network.

Window frames with glass can be used to make cold frames to protect your plants.

You can take up to 2 window frames (with or without glass) or 2 doors from a DIY project to our household waste recycling centres.

Wood

Buy good quality wood that lasts longer.

Reuse old wood to make borders and plant containers in your garden or use it for firewood.

Take your unwanted wood, including chipboard, to any of our household waste recycling centres.

Wool

Take unwanted wool to the textile banks at your local recycling centre or to any of our household waste recycling centres.

Be creative - use left over balls of wool to make pompoms or to make rag wool rugs.

Offer wool on Freecycle or Freegle networks.
