Road resurfacing programme 2025

Resurfacing of a road involves removing several centimetres of worn out road surface and replacing it with new material and rolling it, to give a smooth surface.

If a road has deteriorated too much – the fundamental structure of the road is in too poor a condition – it will be considered for resurfacing or more extensive work when the road can be made a priority for funding.

Resurfacing takes much longer than other repairs like surface dressing. Often the road has to be closed completely and traffic diverted meaning longer journey times and some inconvenience for local road users. We always do our best to minimise delays as far as possible.

We intend to invest more than £3.4 million during 2025/2026 to resurface 24 sections of road across the county, covering 38,000 square metres.

The full list of sites we will resurface is listed, in the order the works will take place. The list includes the location and county councillor electoral division:

Our contractors will put up yellow signs giving the dates and times of each job.

Where possible we'll try to minimise disruption by working outside of key travel times. If we need to close the roads, diversions will be in place.
