With over 17 miles of trails through beautiful countryside with dramatic views, our family-friendly and traffic free cycle trails are here to be enjoyed by everyone.
Just follow the line of the former Cromford and High Peak railway from the Cycle Hire Centre at Middleton Top, taking in the stunning Derbyshire Dales countryside.
We have bicycles for all ages and child seats, trailers and taggers (to add to adult cycles), through child's cycles to full size adult cycles. We have:
- hybrid bikes, ideal for the trail
- comfort bikes
- electric bikes, that help by giving you extra pedal power
We recommend that you wear a helmet while cycling. Helmet hire is free with the hire of any bicycle.
Please bring a form of photo identification with you, like a driving licence.
Opening hours and prices
Our opening hours for Middleton Top cycle hire centre are from 9.30am to 5pm.
Our opening dates are:
- January to March 2026 - closed
- Easter Holidays 2026 - open every day from 28 March to 12 April 2026
- April 2026 (after Easter holidays end) - weekends only
- May 2026 - Weekends only. Open by prior arrangement on week days
- Open on Early May Bank Holiday to Monday 4 May 2026
- Late May to August 2026 (Peak Season) - Open every day from 23 May 2026 to 31 August 2026
- September 2026 - Weekends only. Weekdays by prior arrangement
- October 2026 - Weekends only
- Open all week for October half‑term (26 to 30 October 2026)
- November to December 2026 - closed
