Ashbourne and District 50+ Forum

The Ashbourne and District 50+ Forum brings people together to share information, raise local issues, and have a voice in shaping services and policies that affect people aged 50 and over. By working with local agencies and organisations, the forum helps improve outcomes for both the 50+ community and the wider community.

About the forum

The forum brings together local residents, community organisations and service providers to discuss issues that matter to people aged 50 and over. Through regular meetings, guest speakers and engagement with local partners, the forum aims to ensure that the views of local people are heard and represented.

Achievements

The forum has achieved a number of positive outcomes for the local community.

Transport – Several transport open forums helped influence changes to bus timetables, enabling Gold Card holders to travel closer to the 9.30am deadline for free travel.

Learning and social opportunities - The forum helped establish the Ashbourne and District University of the Third Age (U3A), which now offers a wide variety of groups and activities covering many subjects and interests.

Digital inclusion - In 2022, the forum played a key role in establishing the Tea, Talk N Tech Digital Café, providing free and friendly support to help people improve their digital skills and get connected. Sessions take place at Ashbourne Sports and Community Pavilion, Ashbourne Recreation Ground, Cokayne Avenue, DE6 1ER, on Thursdays from 11am to 1pm.
