We ensure that policy and specifications are developed, evidence is provided to support investment decisions, whilst ensuring that appropriate systems are in place to store, manage and report on highway infrastructure and process. We also have the benefit of retaining a highways laboratory to monitor and report on craft and quality in the supply chain. We collaborate with all areas of highways to devise and deliver:

  • materials specification through research and innovation
  • current and relevant policy, customer levels of service and work process
  • our single asset management system and asset data
  • the customer relationship management system to enhance the customer journey
  • an evidence based forward programme of highway works and long-term budget proposals
  • bids for funding opportunities
  • innovative thinking and solutions to problems
  • supporting survey information

This is an exciting time for the highway strategy team as we deliver both the new asset management system and the customer relationship management system and use these systems to improve our ways of working in line with future highways model.
