Transport studies

More detailed transport studies are undertaken to develop local area or modal strategies or to examine the benefits and potential impacts of larger projects such as major schemes.

Currently, we are undertaking a project to develop a tool to help us understand which transport schemes are more effective in supporting local economies.

The transport and economy project is using Glossop town centre as a pilot location for the study.

Other studies that we have undertaken in the past include, the development of a strategy for a Chesterfield Cycle Network, a traffic study in Ashbourne, the Derby to Manchester rail line study and freight mapping.

We also consider development proposals to ensure that all new developments within Derbyshire are assessed in terms of their safety and impact on the roads.
