We have a network of farmers and contractors with snow clearing equipment who help us clear snow.
If you're a farmer or contractor with snow clearing equipment, we want to hear from you.
Every contractor signed up will get a minimum payment of £250 − even if it doesn't snow.
Winter maintenance requirements
Equipment
You'll need to use your own snow clearing equipment.
Hours of work
Normal working hours would be daylight hours from Monday to Sunday.
The contract would run for 2 winter seasons, from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027 and from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2028.
Insurance
Please make sure you have the appropriate insurance and driving licences in place.
Service
We'd like you to help us remove snow from our roads during 'snow events' and provide the service within 90 minutes of a call-out.
We'll let you know which roads we'd like you to clear, and we'll pay you for any work you carry out.
Your contribution could really make a difference to your local community.

We'll send you an application form asking for details of your equipment you have, insurance details, your hourly rate of payment, and how quickly you could respond to requests for help.
We’ll assess applications against a range of criteria, including insurance cover, equipment, hire rates, availability, location, minimum working period and response time.
The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 28 September 2026.
We'll contact you at the beginning of October to let you know if your application has been successful.
