Farmers and contractors winter maintenance scheme

Watch our short video clip to learn about how farmers help out during bad weather on top of their day job.

Ralph Godber has been on standby to help clear snow and ice from local roads for the last 7 years.

Take a look at this clip to find out more about how farmers and other contractors help us deal with winter weather in their local community.

We have a network of farmers and contractors with ploughing or gritting equipment who help us clear snow.

If you're a farmer or contractor with ploughing or gritting equipment, we want to hear from you.

Every contractor signed up will get a minimum payment of £250 − even if it doesn't snow.

Winter maintenance requirements

Normal working hours would be from 7am to 7pm Monday to Sunday.

The contract would run from 1 October 2023 to 30 April 2024.

You'll be expected to provide the service within 90 minutes of a call-out. We'll let you know which roads you need to cover.

Guidance on filling out the section on insurance is also included on the form.

If you have any questions about the details you need to provide or filling in the form please tel: 01629 538698.

The closing date for returning forms is 1pm on Friday 15 September 2023.

Your details will be assessed against any other quotations we receive based on your insurance, equipment, hire rates, availability, location, the minimum amount of time you'd be prepared to work and how quickly you could respond to calls for help.

We'll contact you in September to let you know if your application has been successful.
