Pre-patching works for the 2026 to 2027 surface dressing programme

We are starting our pre-patching programme in August 2025 at 111 sites across the county.

The repairs are in readiness for our 2026 to 2027 surface dressing programme. By undertaking the works in the spring, we're able to make the most of warmer, drier weather conditions to carry out the repairs giving a better finish and minimising inconvenience for local road users.

Our pre-patching work includes planing out the road surface around existing potholes and laying a new surface in readiness for the surface dressing to be applied on top.

Where required, on rural roads, we will fix ruts along the edge of the road, known as 'over running' by using materials to build a deeper, stronger foundation to the damaged part of the road.
