NHS nursing care

All individuals residing in care homes providing nursing care qualify to receive a contribution from the NHS towards the cost of their nursing care.

For people who go to live in a care home which provides nursing care, the NHS contribution from 1 April 2017 is set at a single rate of £155.05 per week.

However, a person placed prior to 1 October 2007 who was in receipt of a higher band nursing payment will continue to receive higher rate funding from 1 April 2017 of £213.32 per week.

These amounts are reviewed each year, usually at the beginning of April.

People with financial resources in excess of £23,250 will also be eligible for a determination and receive a contribution from the NHS towards the cost of their care.
