Glossopdale Furniture Project

The Glossopdale Furniture Project collects donations of good quality furniture for reuse and recycling within the High Peak area.

The project offers a free collection service within High Peak. They collect from the following areas on the following days:

  • Monday - New Mills area
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday - Glossop area
  • Thursday - Buxton area

The project does not accept:

  • gas appliances
  • any upholstered furniture without fire retardant safety labels

The project runs a workshop in Glossop where furniture is restored and new items are made from recycled wood.

It also collects scrap metal such as washing machines, tumble driers, cookers and microwaves and anything that is metal.

The project has a shop where most items of furniture are available for sale to the public. However, fridges, freezers and beds are reserved for those on low incomes.

Furniture can be donated directly to the project's workshop. Please call the workshop to check whether your furniture is suitable for reuse tel: 01457 857505.

What to do if your furniture isn't suitable for re-use

If you think your unwanted furniture is not suitable for reuse, you can take it to any of our household waste recycling centres for disposal free of charge.

Alternatively your local district council will provide a bulky household waste collection service under which they will collect old furniture from your property, they may charge for this.
