Derby Housing Market Area Joint Advisory Board

The Derby HMA joint advisory board was established in 2008 in response to the draft regional spatial strategy (RSS) requirement for the preparation of co-ordinated Local Development Frameworks (LDFs) across the Derby HMA - made up of Derby City, Amber Valley Borough and South Derbyshire District Councils.

The terms of reference for the JAB were revised in January 2019. They are attached to this page.

It's important to note that the Joint Advisory Board has no executive powers and makes recommendations only to the relevant local authorities in the Derby HMA.

The HMA Joint Advisory Board continues to meet on a regular basis.

At its most recent meeting on 4 July 2019, the JAB considered the options for the next round of plan-making within the Derby HMA, as well as the commissioning of a study to inform whichever plan option was chosen.

The following following councillors currently represent the respective Derby HMA authorities on the JAB:

  • Amber Valley Borough Council - Councillor Chris Emmas-Williams
  • Derby City Council - Councillor Matthew Holmes
  • Derbyshire County Council - Councillor Tony King
  • South Derbyshire District Council - Councillor Andrew MacPherson

The JAB is supported by relevant officers from each of the HMA authorities.
