Dates to remember for secondary school admissions

There are some important dates you should remember for making your application for your child's secondary school place.

If your child was born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011 and is in their final year at primary school you will need to apply for a secondary school place between 13 September 2021 and the closing date of 31 October 2021 for them to start in September 2022.

Information is distributed by primary schools and online.

13 September 2021

You can apply online. You can apply over the phone by ringing Call Derbyshire tel: 01629 533190.

Midnight on 31 October 2021

We must have received your preferences by this date - either online, by phone or on the paper form. It does not matter how early you apply as long as you apply by the closing date.

1 March 2022

Offer day. If you've applied online we'll email your offer. If you do not have an email address we'll post your offer letter, second class, on this date. If you've applied online you can also view your offer online from 1 March 2022.

No decisions can be given by phone. 1 March 2022 is national offer day. All councils nationwide make their offers on the same day.

29 March 2022

Closing date for submitting an appeal in relation to Derbyshire schools if you're not happy with the school allocated to your child.

16 June 2022

Appeals normally heard by this date.

September 2022

Children start school. The school your child has been offered a place at will be in touch with you about the exact date.
