If your child was born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 and is in their final year at primary school you will need to apply for a secondary school place between 7 September 2026 and the closing date of 31 October 2026 for them to start in September 2027.

We must have received your preferences by this date. It does not matter how early you apply as long as you apply by the closing date.
1 March 2027
This is national offer day. If you've applied online we'll email your offer and you can view your account from midnight to view your offer. If you do not have an email address we'll post your offer letter, second class, on this date.
No decisions can be given by phone. All councils nationwide make their offers on the same day.
12 April 2027
Closing date for submitting an appeal in relation to Derbyshire schools if you're not happy with the school allocated to your child.
15 June 2027
Appeals normally heard by this date.
September 2027
Children start school. The school your child has been offered a place at will be in touch with you about the exact date.
