Community rail partnerships

Transport is a major issue facing communities in the 21st century. Without personal transport many people, especially those in rural areas, are becoming socially excluded from both workplace and essential local services.

Community rail partnerships are a bridge between the railway and local communities.

They are about positive development, bringing together a wide range of interests along the rail corridor.

Partnerships have been instrumental in achieving spectacular increases in use of rail through innovative marketing, improved services and better station facilities.

Their work includes:

  • improving train services
  • improving transport links to stations
  • improving stations
  • bringing station buildings back to life, including art and other projects
  • promoting rail services

There are 3 community rail partnerships in Derbyshire:

They concentrate on improving rail services and work to develop and promote a number of local rail services throughout the county.
