Additional highway maintenance funding: Network North

The Prime Minister's Network North announcement on 4 October 2023 included a commitment to an additional £8.3 billion for local highway maintenance from 2023 to 2024 to 2033 to 2034.

Funded by UK government

Following the reallocation of HS2 funding in October 2023, we continue to spend the additional £3 million of government funding given to us for local highways maintenance.

We're using the money to improve the condition of the county's roads after the damage caused by unprecedented storms like Storm Babet and other severe weather events over recent months.

In the main, we're carrying out carriageway resurfacing, using our inhouse repair team and external contractors to ensure that the sites are repaired as quickly as possible to conditions for local road users.

Road resurfacing programmes made possible by reallocated HS2 funding
