MHFA Refresher (adult) and Youth MHFA Refresher

MHFA England recommend Adult Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders) take the MHFA Refresher and Youth Mental Health First Aiders (Youth MHFAiders) take the Youth MHFA Refresher courses every 3 years. This is to ensure their mental health knowledge, awareness, and skills are up-to-date.

These courses are designed for individuals who are already certified Mental Health First Aiders (adult) or Youth Mental Health First Aiders. However, if your certificate is more than 6 months out of date, MHFA England advise you should recomplete a full MHFA 2-day course. Completing the MHFA Refresher gives ongoing membership to the Association of Mental Health First Aiders.

What you will get

After completing the course, you will:

  • be certified for another 3 years
  • receive a learner workbook and online access to the course manual
  • get a digital certificate
  • be invited to join (or continue with) the Association of Mental Health First Aiders

MHFA Refresher

This 4-hour course is designed to refresh your knowledge and confidence as a Mental Health First Aider who has completed the Adult Mental Health First Aid course 3 or more years ago.

Virtual MHFA Refresher course dates

The deadline for booking onto the following course is 26 June 2026:

  • one live session on 17 July 2026 (morning) - registration closed

Youth MHFA Refresher

This 4-hour course is designed to refresh the knowledge and confidence of a Youth Mental Health First Aider, who completed the Youth Mental Health First Aid course 3 or more years ago.
