Family Help planned activities and milestones

The key planned activities and milestones to support the development and implementation of the Family Help model in Derbyshire

Delivery will take place in phases, with learning used to refine and inform wider roll-out.

Recruitment into key positions to provide additional capacity and leadership across the partnership into this change work, including additional capacity for Derbyshire's stronger families team and family help service.

A key priority is increasing capacity and leadership across the partnership to support this transformation. Recruitment is underway for key roles, including additional capacity within Derbyshire's Stronger Families Service and the wider Family Help offer.

Governance arrangements are being reviewed to ensure clearer accountability, stronger oversight and inclusive representation across the children's partnership.

Work is progressing to map existing provision and assess current and predicted levels of need. This analysis will inform the design of Family Help teams and determine which professional roles are required from across partner organisations.

Team structures, roles and responsibilities are being defined, including the role of Family Help lead practitioners. Alongside this, a multi-agency workforce development and training plan is being developed to ensure practitioners are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to deliver the new model.

The Family Help model will be trialled in 2 localities. These pilots will include multi-agency Family Help teams, identified Family Help leads and defined accountability arrangements.

Front door arrangements are being reviewed and strengthened to ensure alignment with the Family Help model. This includes examining referral pathways, decision-making processes and step-up and step-down arrangements to create a clearer and more consistent system.

Processes, workflows and systems are also under review to reduce duplication and create a more seamless experience for families.

Work is underway to strengthen the interface between Family Help and child protection arrangements to ensure clarity and continuity of support.

Existing family solutions and advocacy models are being reviewed to develop a consistent approach across all service areas.

Supervision arrangements and safeguarding oversight are being strengthened across the partnership.

The Stronger Families Service will continue to grow, with a focus on preventative family support and reunification where appropriate.

Finally, arrangements are being developed for a shared dataset to capture Family Help activity and outcomes across the partnership.
