Young people who need residential care

Sometimes a young person has needs where a children’s home is the preferred option.

We look to match the young person to the right home. We run a number of children’s homes in Derbyshire and where possible we try to keep the young person close to their community and the school they attend.

All our homes are Ofsted inspected.

A young person coming to live in one of our homes will be given a young person's guide to the home which helps them to settle in and understand what to expect. Parents may be able to visit their child in their residential home or contact may be arranged elsewhere.

Independent Reviewing Officers make sure that parents are consulted about their children’s care regularly. Children are also consulted regularly – for more information see our section on children’s wishes and feelings.
