The library has microfilm copies of the town's main newspaper, the Long Eaton Advertiser from 1882 to the present and the Long Eaton Trader from 1982 onward.
There are also some short-lived titles - Long Eaton Echo 1995, Long Eaton Observer 1939, Long Eaton Reporter 1919 to 1920 and the Long Eaton Star 1913 to 1915.
A news cuttings collection relevant to the Long Eaton area was started in 1992 including articles from the Long Eaton Advertiser, Nottingham Evening Post and Derby Evening Telegraph. This collection is partially indexed and also contains some earlier material.

Minutes of Long Eaton Urban District Council, 1938 to 1974 and of its successor Council, Erewash Borough Council, 1974 to 1984. There are electoral registers for the town 1939, 1958 to 1961, 1967 to 1971, 1977 to 1978 and 1981 to 1997.
A collection of over 4,000 photographs from around 1880 to the present including copies of postcards and photographs mainly of Long Eaton, Sawley Breaston and Draycott. There are some good early and mid 20th century street scenes. Two topics particularly well featured are the Floods of 1932 and the Long Eaton Carnival, particularly in the 1930s.
A collection of large scale Ordnance Survey maps is held for an area 2 to 3 miles around the town. This includes pre-1940 25 inch and 6 inch maps covering the areas of Long Eaton, Sandiacre, Toton, Breaston, Draycott and parts of Lockington and Hemington. Copies are also held (slightly reduced) of the 1:500 scale plan of Long Eaton of about 1880. Current OS maps are available at 6 inch and 25 inch for the Long Eaton area and 50 inch plans are held for the town of Long Eaton. There are fire insurance plans for 1908 and 1928; Goad shopping plans of Long Eaton are held from 1977. A guide to the map collection is available.

A collection of books by local authors of the area, notably Eric Malpass and Teresa Hooley, but including also works by authors across the Nottinghamshire border such as Harry Fuller (who also wrote as Ed Fuller and Al Fulman) of Toton. In addition, the library holds a small collection of books on the life and work of the artist, Laura Knight, who was born in Long Eaton.
