Joining the library

If you live, work or study in Derbyshire you can join the library.

Joining the library photo by Chris Webb

Simply fill out our online membership form and you'll be given a temporary library card number. To complete the process please take 1 of the forms of identification listed on this page to any Derbyshire library.

Call into your local library

We'll normally need to see a form of identification with your name and address on before we can give you a library ticket.

The documents we accept as proof of identification are:

  • driving licence
  • bank statement
  • building society book
  • Post Office savings book
  • welfare benefits book
  • pension book
  • bus pass
  • receipted bills
  • council tax demand
  • medical card

Just take 1 of these documents along to your nearest library and you'll be issued with a library ticket. If you have any more questions about how to join our staff will be happy to help.

Already a member?

If you think you're already a library member but have lost your ticket, please contact your local library for a replacement.

You're never too young to join the library.

Children under 13 years old

A parent or carer needs to show 1 form of identification or have a valid Derbyshire library card.

Young people aged 13 and over

You'll need to show 1 form of identification or your b_line card.
