The service is for anyone who finds it difficult to visit a library or mobile library, or carry their books home.
This could be due to:
- disability
- limited mobility
- illness
- caring responsibilities
How it works
When you apply for the service, we'll phone you to find out a bit about you, and to tell you more about how the service works. We'll also ask you about what kind of things you'd like us to deliver. We'll then arrange a visit to follow this up in more detail.
One of our home library assistants will then arrange to visit you once every 4 weeks.
We deliver to people in their own home as well as those in care homes.
Benefits include:
- a selection of items tailored to you
- free requests
- no charges on overdue books
If you have any questions, email library.communityengagement@derbyshire.gov.uk or telephone: 01629 533444

If you have the internet at home you may prefer to use our 24 hour library where you can download free ebooks, e-audio and e-magazines from the comfort of your own home.
