The Silly Squad is a group of animals out to have fun and read anything that makes them happy - whether that’s stories, comics, joke books or information books and you can join them by taking part in this year’s digital Summer Reading Challenge. The challenge will run from 5 June until September.
How to sign-up
To sign up for challenge head over to the Silly Squad website. The site also has lots of games, quizzes, digital and downloadable activities for you to get involved with at home.
How to take part
As this year’s challenge has gone digital, we are asking you to read books you already have at home or eBooks and eAudiobooks borrowed through Derbyshire Libraries online. Children who aren’t library members already can sign up online with the help of a parent / guardian. A member of staff will then be in touch with their library card number so that children can borrow eBooks, eMagazines and eAudiobooks.
We will have a host of virtual activities to support the challenge including story and rhyme times, book reviews and craft activity ideas alongside our eBook and eAudiobook lending services.
