Chatsworth community membership pass

Chatsworth community membership passes now available in ten libraries.

To celebrate the National Year of Reading, the Chatsworth House Trust charity and Derbyshire County Council are  offering a pilot scheme at 10 participating libraries, offering library members the opportunity to borrow a free Chatsworth community membership pass.

The pass provides a week of free access to Chatsworth House, garden, farmyard and adventure playground.

Library members can borrow a pass from our libraries in:

  • Alfreton
  • Bakewell
  • Bolsover
  • Buxton
  • Chesterfield
  • Dronfield
  • Heanor
  • Ilkeston
  • Matlock
  • Swadlincote

Each of these ten libraries will hold two passes which must be borrowed in person . As we expect demand to be high, you may wish to contact the library in advance to check availability or ask to be added to their waiting list if they are on loan.

The usual library requests system cannot be used for these passes. Library addresses, phone numbers and email addresses can be found on our Derbyshire Libraries website

If you are not already a library member, you simply need to take ID which includes proof of address to join our service for free, giving you access to 45 libraries across the county as well as our online resources. To join, you must live, work or study in Derbyshire.

The pass can be borrowed for up to a week, and provides: free parking for one vehicle; entrance to Chatsworth House up to once per day, including an opportunity to visit their “House of Stories: Tales From the Chatsworth Library” exhibition; and entrance to the garden, farmyard and adventure playground as many times as you wish. The card must be returned to the library it was borrowed from by the due date.

This is a pilot project running until 4 October 2026. Passes are not valid 4-6 September or 19 -20 September. Full details and terms and conditions can be found on the Chatsworth House Trust website.
