Renew and reserve library items

You can renew and reserve library books online.

Renew your library items

Log in to your library account

Choose 'renew your items' in the catalogue menu. If you have a library card, type the number and your PIN into the user ID box.

Your PIN is usually the first 2 digits and the last 2 digits of your date of birth. So, if you were born on 25 October 1971, your PIN would be 2571.

B_line cards and Gold Cards need to be activated at your local library to use them as library cards

Your PIN

You can change your PIN once you've logged into your account by choosing 'change PIN'.

Help logging in

If you have any difficulty logging in, or need help to use the catalogue, contact us by email: ask.library@derbyshire.gov.uk or telephone: 01629 533444.

Renewing your books

Books can be renewed up to 6 times, for a period of 3 weeks at a time.

Audiobooks can be renewed for a further 3 weeks, but it'll cost you a little extra.

Requesting library books

Books can be requested by visiting any of our libraries, using our online catalogue, or by phone telephone: 01629 533444.

A charge of 85p (55p concessionary) is charged for each book and audiobook you ask for. If we don't have it in stock you can still ask for it. A further charge of £6 will apply if we borrow the item from another library service in the UK or abroad.

  • Children and young people up to the age of 18 can make free requests
  • If we don't have what you want in our stock, you can suggest that we buy it and we'll consider your request

Ebooks

If you're a Derbyshire library member you can also download free ebooks and e-audiobooks from our website.

You can borrow 10 ebooks for up to 3 weeks, and if the book you want is already checked out you can reserve it free of charge.
