Halloween Trail
At High Peak Junction from 24 to 31 October 2026.
This October half term, mysterious creatures have appeared along the trails at High Peak Junction... can you find them all? Follow the trail, solve the clues, and uncover the strange animals lurking around the site. Complete the challenge and claim a prize at the finish.

Blacksmith experience days and forge taster sessions
Step into the forge and learn traditional blacksmithing skills under expert guidance. Create your own item to take home while discovering one of Britain's oldest crafts.

Pumphouse open days
Experience the incredible Leawood beam engine either whilst static or in steam, and see this Victorian engineering masterpiece operating as it was originally intended. Engine house days
Watch Middleton Top's famous beam engine in motion and explore one of Derbyshire's most significant industrial heritage sites. Learn how the engine helped haul railway wagons up the steep incline over 150 years ago. You can find information about open events from Middleton Top Countryside Centre.

Middleton Top, High Peak Junction and Leawood Pumphouse are all located within easy reach of one another by car, and connected by the High Peak Trail for those who like to walk or cycle.
The High Peak Trail boasts spectacular views, historic landmarks and other local attractions to make a perfect day out.
Car parking is available at High Peak Junction, Black Rocks and Middleton Top.
