Derby's river path walk, which runs from Long Eaton to Derby city centre, runs directly through the park.
This includes part of the National Cycle Network, Route 6.

- Elvaston Castle local nature reserve walk is attached to this page or can be purchased from the shop for 25p

If you're unable to walk long distances Elvaston Castle has 2 tramper mobility scooters to hire for a small fee.
Or we are usually able to loan visitors a wheelchair.

Elvaston Castle Country Park supports the National Forest Walking Festival.
Health walking
A number of Walking for Health groups use the park on a regular basis.
Dog walking
Elvaston Castle Country Park is well known for being a dog-friendly site and welcomes responsible owners and their dogs.
Please keep your dog under close control and be considerate of other park users.
Please keep your dog on a lead in the central courtyard areas. Please look for dog tie-up points next to the information centre and shop, and around the edges of the courtyards.
If you forget to bring your own, dog poo bags can be purchased from the information centre and shop, or the park office in the cobbled courtyard.
To keep wildlife disturbance to a minimum we would ask that you do not bring your dog into Elvaston's local nature reserve.
Wayfaring - walks with a difference
There is an established network of wayfaring and orienteering points around the park.
A map produced by Derwent Valley Orienteers and designed for the more experienced map reader can currently be purchased from the information centre and shop for £1.20.
