If you are worried about the museum being too busy or noisy, please contact us before your visit so we can advise.
We aim to make your visit as enjoyable as we can. We're always looking for suggestions on improvements we can make, so please contact us with any ideas.
Buggies
You can take your buggy anywhere in the museum. We have a lift to take you to the first floor. If you prefer to leave your buggy, you can leave it in the foyer.
Food
We don't have a picnic area or a café, but there are lots of cafés a short walk away. We're opposite The Slopes (a public park) which is a good place to have a picnic depending on the weather.
Photography
You can take photos for non-commercial purposes. We love it when our visitors share their photos on our social media channels so feel free to snap away for personal use.
Baby feeding
We have signed up to the Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme and breastfeeding and bottle feeding is welcome anywhere in the museum.
Cloakroom and storage
We have an area in the foyer where coats and bags can be stored. These 'lockers' cannot be locked and anything left there, is at the owner's risk.
Parking
We don't have our own car park. There is free on-street parking outside the museum (limited to 40 minutes) and we are opposite the Buxton Town Hall pay-and-display car park. There are 15 disabled car parking spaces here.
Current exhibitions
As well as the amazing permanent collections about the Peak District, 360 million years in the making, you can also enjoy our exhibitions.
Shop
The shop is open to customers. We sell a superb selection of pocket money favourites, educational toys and a unique range of products inspired by our collections. You can buy some of these at our online shop.
