Buxton Museum and Art Gallery
We’re delighted the Government has given us the green light to re-open and we’re working really hard behind the scenes to make this happen as soon as we can. We wish it was as simple as just opening the doors, but of course it isn’t. There’s a lot to do to make sure that when we do re-open, it’s safe for all our visitors and our staff, so we’re looking closely at the guidance and making sure we put all the necessary measures in place. It will take a little time.
As soon as we can we’ll let you know our proposed opening date, and information you’ll need about planning your visit and what to expect. And meanwhile we’ll continue to provide a variety of activities on the digital platforms.
It will be good to see you again.

Appeal for lockdown memories
We are looking to collect stories, experiences and objects relating to everyday life in Buxton during lockdown for COVID-19 and the weeks afterward. We want to create a historical record to show people in the future what it was like living in Buxton during this extraordinary time.
We’re looking for people to send us suggestions of what they think should be added to our collections. We will look through the suggestions and make a selection to add to the museum’s permanent collections. Send your suggestions by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
