School admission appeals

If you couldn't get a place for your child in the school you wanted you can appeal against the decision.

Your appeal will be heard by an appeal panel, independent of the school and us.

Guidance on appeals is attached to this page and you should read this before appealing.

Secondary appeals

If your appeal is for a child transferring to secondary school and you are told of the decision on 2 March 2020, your appeal will normally be heard by 15 June 2020.

If you are told of a secondary school decision after 2 March 2020 or it relates to an in-year admission you should submit your appeal within 20 school days of being told that your application was unsuccessful. Your appeal will normally be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

As schools are currently closed, please note in-year secondary appeals are at present suspended.

Our intake secondary appeal facility remains open.

Primary and junior appeals

Schools are currently closed so our primary and junior appeals facility is temporarily suspended.

This service will be restored once the government makes a decision to reopen schools.
