Leaders for Derbyshire County Council’s new Administration announced

Our newly-elected Administration has announced its 2 key appointments ahead of the authority’s annual general meeting (AGM) next Wednesday (21 May 2025).


Reform UK took control of the county council in the local elections held on 1 May 2025 and now have 42 seats out of a total of 64 seats on the council.

Subject to confirmation at the council’s AGM next week, the intended new leader is Councillor Alan Graves, who represents the Aston Division, and the intended new deputy leader is Councillor Rob Reaney, who represents the Sutton Division.

The new Cabinet, along with appointments to council committees and other positions will be announced in due course.

The make-up of the council following the elections earlier this month is now: Reform UK with 42 seats, Conservatives with 12 seats, Labour and Co-operative with 3 seats, Liberal Democrats with 3 seats, the Green Party with 2 seats and 2 Independents.
