Our business advice is charged at £65 plus VAT per hour. However, during the current coronavirus outbreak there will be no charge for advice about whether COVID-19 legislation permits certain types of business to open.
Should your request for advice relate to social distancing or health and safety controls in your business, you should seek advice from your local district or borough council. Alternatively, you may get answers to your questions on the government website or the Health and Safety Executive website.

Our advice could potentially save you money. We can tailor advice to the needs of your business across the wide range of trading standards law, which could avoid your product falling foul of the law.
We do this by making you aware of law that affects your product and how you can make sure you comply with it before you spend money on, for example, printing and packaging.
Our expertise is dealing with all aspects of trading standards law. We cannot give advice on other areas of law such as contractual disputes with other businesses or legislation enforced by other regulators.
Helen Wang, of Abakus Foods, said:
“Derbyshire County Council trading standards helped us check our packaging design to make sure it complies with regulatory standards. The detailed report was helpful for us to know what we can and cannot say on the packaging. The comments were very insightful and the turnaround was quick. We will be back in the future.”
