The flagship building was constructed by us. It was the first building on site and opened in 2006. It marked the beginning of the regeneration of Markham Vale.
Development of the original centre was led by us in partnership with public and private sector partners. It was funded by us, ERDF (European Regional Development Fund), Alliance SSP and North Derbyshire Charity for Education and Training. The centre was extended in 2015 with our assistance and further ERDF funds. It offers 17 units and 2 offices.
The building has some excellent sustainable features which contribute towards our environmentally friendly credentials:
- photovoltaic panels on the roof to generate electricity
- a 'grey' water recycling facility to filter rain water from the roof
- natural air flow using Passivent windows
Our welcoming facilities include:
- exhibition space
- conference rooms
- training facilities
- free wifi
An innovative council project is also based at the centre. This provides us with assistance to maintain our high quality landscaping and surrounding areas.
