Derbyshire Record Office

The Derbyshire Record Office, combining both the archives and local studies services, brings Derbyshire's fascinating past to life for residents, visitors and students.

What we do

We're responsible for Derbyshire's archives and main local studies collections. We provide the archive service for Derbyshire, Derby City and the Diocese of Derby. The local studies collection covers the whole county and has over 30,000 printed documents on all aspects of life in Derbyshire.

The archives collection has more than four miles of original Derbyshire records. You can look at all of our collections for free.

Our helpful and friendly staff will be able to advise you how to use the record office.

This includes how to find the information you are looking for and how to take your research further.

If you'd like some advice before your visit, email: record.office@derbyshire.gov.uk or tel: 01629 538347.
