Working with children

If you're interested in working with children and young adults and would like to play a part in their education and wellbeing then a work experience placement in our children's services department could be for you.

Placements are in a variety of settings including schools, children's centres and nurseries, however, please note that we can't currently offer placements within our MAT Early Help teams, social work areas and residential homes.

You’ll need to be patient, confident and creative, with a sense of humour and good communication skills.

The tasks you may be involved in during your placement are:

  • helping teaching assistants prepare the classroom ready for lessons
  • listening to children read, reading to them or telling them stories
  • helping children's centre workers to supervise group activities
  • helping to tidy away materials and equipment

You'll learn what's involved in working with children and younger adults within a variety of settings.

To apply for work experience with us, please complete an application form and return it to us as soon as possible as places are limited.
