Working in communications

If you're interested in working in local government to manage reputation, image and access to local services then a work experience placement in our communications division could be right for you.


You'll need to be confident working with many different kinds of people and have good spoken and written communication skills.

The tasks you may be involved in during your placement are:

  • helping to plan PR campaigns
  • helping with the production of leaflets, websites, brochures and newsletters
  • helping to arrange council events
  • general office duties such as photocopying and filing

You'll learn what's involved in communications and public relations in a public services setting.
