Working in a library

If you're organised, like working with people, and are interested in literature and information then a work experience placement in a library may be for you.


You'll need to be confident dealing with members of the public and have good spoken and written communication skills.

The tasks you may be involved in during your placement are:

  • helping library users to find resources and publications
  • helping library assistants with activities such as reading groups
  • helping to organise resources so that they're easy for users to find

You'll learn what's involved in working in a local library.
