Driving safer for longer

We are offering our popular 'driving safer for longer' information sessions to Derbyshire residents aged 50 years and older.


The 'driving safer for longer' information session offers attendees a chance to update their driving knowledge. The session aims to support residents to continue driving for as long as they choose, exploring potential difficulties which may affect driving ability along with possible solutions.

Themes covered include:

  • hazard perception
  • smart motorways
  • changes to eyesight and hearing
  • driving impairments including the effects of alcohol and medication
  • journey planning
  • vehicle adaptations
  • keeping safe in the vehicle

Dates

Sessions are:

  • Saturday 20 September from 10.30 to midday at County Hall, Matlock
  • Wednesday 1 October from 1pm to 2.30pm online on Microsoft Teams
  • Monday 20 October from 10.30am to midday at Buxton Methodist Church
  • Friday 21 November from 2.30pm to 4pm at the Medway Centre, Bakewell
  • Thursday 27 November from 5pm to 6.30pm online on Microsoft Teams

Length

The session runs for 90 minutes.

Cost

Our 'driving safer for longer' information session fees are:

  • online session fee: £4
  • in-person attendance fee: £8.50
