At Staveley there is a good loan and reference collection for the county and local area. Offprints of articles about the area from local journals such as Derbyshire Life and Derbyshire Miscellany, a news cuttings file and a photograph collection fill out the picture.
As well as published books and pamphlets on the immediate area there are some unpublished studies of the locality. These range from scholarly studies by Anthony Smith to the enchanting poetry and artwork of Mr and Mrs Fox celebrating Speedwell Terrace.
There is a good set of Ordnance Survey maps for all scales 1880s to 1980s covering the local area plus maps showing the sites of local collieries.
