Local studies at Glossop Library

Glossop Library has a substantial local studies section.

Derbyshire books include:

  • Victoria County History of Derbyshire
  • Cox's Churches of Derbyshire
  • Glover's History of Derbyshire
  • Cameron's Place Names of Derbyshire
  • selective material on Cheshire, Lancashire and the Manchester area as well - books about the Glossop area are separated from the main collection so they are easy to find

A number of local newspapers are available on microfilm:

  • Glossop Chronicle 1859 to July 1861, 10 July 1869 to present
  • Glossop Record, 1859 to 1871

  • Glossop Advertiser 1997 to present
