Bakewell Library has a small collection of local history books about the town and the Peak District past and present.

Resources at Bakewell:

  • files of articles on local villages and topics of interest
  • a complete set of the Bakewell and District Historical Society Journal - a mine of information on all aspects of local history
  • news cuttings files from 1993 to the present
  • a file of the Peak Advertiser newspaper kept since 1999
  • a copy of the gravestone inscriptions from the churchyard
  • a small collection of photographs of local places and events
