Maps of Chesterfield and Derbyshire

At Chesterfield Library you can consult all scales of Ordnance Survey maps. These include the large scale 6 inch and 25 inch maps dating from 1876 to the 1940s.

The first 3 editions of Ordnance Survey large scale maps (1876, 1898, 1914) are held on microfilm for the whole county. Post war editions of are available at 6 inch and 25 inch. Even larger, 50 inch plans are held for the old Borough of Chesterfield.

We also have specialist maps, including geological, land use, soil surveys, planning maps and shopping centre plans for Chesterfield. In addition, there is a good collection of historical county maps dating from Saxton's map of 1577.
