No additional statutory controls apply to registered parks and gardens but they are usually given protection through development control policies. These apply to listed buildings or conservation areas and their settings, or specifically to registered parks and gardens.
English Heritage maintains a register of parks and gardens of special historic interest. There are currently 29 entries in the register for Derbyshire, including those located within the Derbyshire part of the Peak District National Park (but excluding Derby).
