The admission arrangements for maintained schools in Derbyshire have been determined for the 2024 to 2025 school year.


Admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools 2024 to 2025

There are no changes to the general admission arrangements for community and controlled schools in Derbyshire other than:

  • changes to key dates in the admissions process for 2024 to 2025 which are set out in the co-ordinated scheme
  • changes to a number of published admission numbers

There are changes to the school Published Admission Numbers (PANs) listed.

Reductions

  • Risley Lower Grammar CE Primary School, 19 to 15 - review of capacity

Increases

  • Hunloke Park Primary School, 40 to 45 - expansion
  • Ridgeway Primary School, 15 to 25 - review of accommodation
  • Chapel-en-le-Frith CE Primary School, 60 to 75 - review of accommodation

All other PANs remain as published in the 2023 to 2024 arrangements. All of these changes are in line with revised net capacity assessments.

Co-ordinated admission arrangements

There are no significant changes to the co-ordinated admissions scheme other than to bring forward relevant dates into the 2024 to 2025 admission rounds.

Fair access protocol

There are no changes to the fair access protocols which reflect the most recent Department for Education (DfE) advice and other national and local changes.

Admission arrangements for voluntary aided, foundation and academy schools

Where schools are proposing no changes there is a requirement to consult only once every 7 years.

Even if there are no changes, all schools which are their own admissions authority must determine their arrangements by 28 February 2023 and publish them by 15 March 2023.

Objections to determined admission arrangements should have been submitted to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator on or before 15 May 2023.

Objections must include the name and address of the person or body making the objection.

Objections that may not be referred to the adjudicator.

  1. An objection which in substance seeks an alteration to admission arrangements for a grammar school, which by virtue of section 104(4) may only be made in accordance with sections 105 (c) to 109 (d) (altering the school's admission arrangements so that it no longer has selective admission arrangements).
  2. An objection which in substance seeks an alteration to admission arrangements for a selective academy so as to remove selection, which by virtue of its academy; arrangements may only be made in accordance with those academy arrangements. An objection that the admission number has not been changed or has been increased for:
    • any school whose admission authority is not the local authority
    • an academy
  3. An objection in respect of an increase or no change to the admission number for a community or voluntary controlled school other than an objection by the governing body of that school.
  4. An objection to an agreement that the admission arrangements for an academy may vary from the School Admissions Code.

Where the adjudicator has determined an objection to the admission arrangements of a school or academy, no objection may be referred to the adjudicator raising the same or substantially the same issues in relation to those admission arrangements within 2 years of the decision by the adjudicator.
