Employment and education team

We have a statutory duty to find out and make sure young people in the county between the ages of 16 and 18 years  are in paid employment, education (school or college), or training (EET). This is a statutory requirement by the Department of Education.

We do this by liaising with schools, colleges and training providers.

For those who are not identified as accessing provision, the Employment and Education Officers (EEOs) contact the young people or their parents directly to establish their whereabouts, provide information, and to signpost them towards potential learning or employment opportunities.

The Employment and Education Team are not responsible for careers information advice and guidance, nor do they have a caseload of young people. The aim is to maximise the participation of 16 to 18-year-olds in education, employment, or training, and to minimise the number of young people that are not in education, employment, or training (NEET), or those whose whereabouts are unknown.
