Services for you and your family to live healthily and happily.

The health and happiness of Derbyshire families is at the heart of the service that Family Information Service (FIS) provides. We are here to listen to your needs.

Family support

We can:

• signpost to other support services in Derbyshire such as the early help service
• direct you to other websites available to help you keep your family safe
• support you to ensure you are accessing all benefits you are entitled to
• assist children, young people and families who are affected by domestic abuse or violence to get support
• signpost to services and activities that support the wellbeing, mental and physical health of families, children and young people

Parenting

We can:

• provide information to support you through your pregnancy and beyond
• share practical advice and tips for positive parenting techniques that work well for children - from babies to teenagers
• offer information and advice on all aspects of family life from bonding with your new baby, dealing with tantrums, and positive discipline
• direct you to support for parents through all stages of your child's life

Early years

For families with children aged 0 to 5 we can support you with:

• baby and toddler health information to support you and your child during the first few years
• health, exercise, and nutrition advice for the really young
• health for under 5s - for healthy happy early years
• advice on getting health right in the first few years
• accessing story and rhyme time groups at our libraries

Young people

The FIS team can signpost you to activities available during the school holidays, provide resources for mental health and wellbeing and help families experiencing concerns about young people's alcohol and substance use.

SEND

The Local Offer helps and supports children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities to be more confident in their communities and live independently.

Families with concerns about their children experiencing developmental delays can contact the special educational needs team for support.
