Support for local high-tech manufacturing firms

Published: 26 March 2026

There’s still time for local businesses across the county to sign up for the Derbyshire Makes Advanced Manufacturing Support Programme.

We're working with East Midlands Chamber of Commerce and the University of Derby to deliver a series of workshops and webinars designed to help high-tech manufacturing firms to develop their supply chain and understand how they can benefit from offering apprenticeships.

Expert advice and guidance will be available at the following workshops and webinars:

  • Sustainability and Operational Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing – Friday 27 March 2026, 9.30am to 12.30pm, online
  • Building Talent and Partnerships for Advanced Manufacturing Growth – Tuesday 14 April 2026 from 8am to 10am, online

A business conference focusing on supporting growth and resilience within the advanced manufacturing sector will be held at Masson Mills in Matlock Bath on Thursday 16 April from 8.30am.

The conference will also mark the launch of the second year of the Derbyshire Makes ‘STEAM into ACTION’ project, which aims to work with Derbyshire schools to develop Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) skills in pupils.

Delegates will benefit from networking opportunities and access to a range of support networks and apprenticeship providers.

Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration Councillor Rob Reaney said:

“Creating a strong local economy with good jobs is one of our top priorities.

“We’ve had a great response to the Derbyshire Makes Advanced Manufacturing Support Programme so far but we want even more local businesses to get involved so that we can support even more local businesses to grow.”
