Cabinet Members will hear the latest progress to take place on-site at a Cabinet meeting being held next week (Thursday 4 December)
Since its launch in 2006, Markham Vale –a joint venture being delivered in partnership with HBD – has transformed the former colliery site between Staveley and Bolsover into a thriving business park resulting in:
- more than £280 million in private sector investment
- more than 2,900 full-time equivalent jobs – exceeding the number employed at the colliery at its peak
- 165 acres fully developed, with the remaining plots under construction or in advanced planning stages.
Recent progress includes completion of new industrial units on Markham Vale West, ongoing work on an electric vehicle forecourt, and plans for a new trade park and drive-thru restaurant. The final phases are expected to conclude by 2026 to 2027, cementing Markham Vale’s role as a key driver of economic growth in Derbyshire.
Councillor Rob Reaney, our Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said:
“Markham Vale is a fantastic success story for Derbyshire. It’s brought new businesses, thousands of jobs, and millions of pounds of investment to an area that needed regeneration.
“Now our focus is on bringing those remaining acres into use, underpinning our commitment to supporting business and investment and creating new opportunities for employment which will benefits local communities and the wider economy for years to come.”
