New journeys will be added to Ilkeston Flyer and my15 from 25 June 2023 which will increase the number of buses available in the evenings and on Sundays. Both services are run by trentbarton.
The 'Ilkeston Flyer' will be available more regularly throughout the evening Monday to Saturday, increasing to every half hour from around 7pm until 11pm. Currently, the service runs hourly starting from around 8.40pm from Ilkeston and 8.15pm from Derby.
An improved Sunday service is being introduced for my15 between Ilkeston and Old Sawley to better match the Monday to Saturday service. This increases the frequency to every half an hour between Ilkeston and Old Sawley from 9.30am to 6.30pm on Sundays compared to the current hourly service.
Both changes will make it easier for people to access the leisure, employment and education opportunities in the area.
The investment in these services comes from the government as they awarded us with £47 million to improve bus services in the county.
Our Cabinet Member for Highways Assets and Transport, Councillor Charlotte Cupit, said:
“These service extensions are welcome news for everyone who currently uses these bus services, and we hope they will also encourage more people to give the bus a go to easily get around.”
“These improvements are part of our wider £47 million Bus Service Improvement Plan for Derbyshire and these new services follow on from the 15 service extensions we’ve already announced elsewhere.”
In addition to the improvements my15 customers will also benefit from double the number of journeys running to East Midlands Airport from the same date. This improvement comes as part of a partnership between trentbarton and other partners in the area. In addition to the extra journeys my15 will service a new route in Castle Donington to take account of the new developments in the village.
