The centre will remain open as usual from 9.30am until 5.30pm, 7 days a week, while essential maintenance work is carried out to improve drainage. But the number of vehicles that can be safely accommodated on-site at any one time will be reduced from 18 to around 9 – which means visitors may experience longer queues than usual.
Visitors are urged to help reduce delays by sorting their waste before they arrive at the centre.
Councillor Carol Wood, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, said:
“Essential maintenance work is needed to improve the drainage at Ilkeston Household Waste Recycling Centre.
“We’ll do all we can to keep things running smoothly on-site while essential maintenance is carried out to improve the drainage at Ilkeston Household Waste Recycling Centre.
“We ask residents to bear with us while this important work is carried out and apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused.”
The work will take around 4 weeks to complete.
